About

Music as a Passion

Taylor Akin grew up in Oklahoma and performs around the world on his bassoon.

I grew up in the prairies of Oklahoma, but music has taken me everywhere. Bassoon is my main instrument. I have performed at Carnegie Hall and across Europe. I regularly participate in clinics and musical exhibits and I compete internationally.

In the News

The Purcell Register ran a story on Taylor Akin and his start in bassoon.

The Purcell Register ran a feature story in 2015 about my start in bassoon performance. It's like a time capsule of my life at age 14! The news section is called "An Interesting Neighbor." Click below to read it now.

Art Inspires Music

River of Light painting by Frederic Edwin Church El Rio De Luz inspired composer Daniel Baldwin.

One of my favorite bassoon pieces to perform is by Daniel Baldwin. It's called "River of Light" and is inspired by another work of art - a painting. Click below to watch my 2018 performance of "River of Light."
