About Taylor

His Music

Taylor grew up in Washington, Oklahoma on a ranch with 40 acres and just as many horses. Taylor has been a musician most of his life. He started playing guitar at age six and never stopped. He started playing wind instruments in fifth grade, starting with saxophone. During his fifth, sixth, and seventh grade years, he studied alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone. While developing his love for jazz performance on saxophone, Chris Hall, started him on bassoon as well. Taylor has been playing bassoon since January of 2014. After studying with Terry Ewell and various other random videos on YouTube, Taylor began studying with Professor Rod Ackmann of the University of Oklahoma and Principal bassoonist of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic in the summer of 2014. Taylor has since had the wonderful opportunity of playing at many different places including, but not limited to, Carnegie Hall, The Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University, Tanglewood Institute at Boston University, and the Advanced Double Reed Institute at Pepperdine University. He has also been featured as a guest performer with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, Oklahoma City Symphonic Band, as well as his own Washington High School Band. Some of his most recent accomplishments include being a featured artist on NPR’s From the Top, Show 363 in Storrs, Connecticut. He is also featured in the From the Top series Where Music Lives with Kevin Olusola.

His Hobbies

In addition to music, Taylor also loves technology and cars. Taylor raced half-scale dragsters from the age of eight to eighteen. He has also built several cars with his father and is currently working on a 1974 Dodge Dart. His love for technology has resulted in a self-owned cell phone repair business called, “T-Squared Phone Repair.” He loves to collaborate with other musicians, especially his girlfriend, Mandy Ozment, at retirement homes and for his church. He and Mandy have been together since February of 2015. He is also a dedicated Catholic at Our Lady of Victory in Purcell. Taylor has dedicated a large part of his life to being a great student and a great musician. He will be graduated as valedictorian of his class in 2019 from Washington High School.
