The First and only Double show!

What does double show mean?

The double show is referring to the fact that there were ten musicians at the live show instead of five, like every show before it. This gave me the opportunity to make nine amazing friends instead of just four. These were some of the coolest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. It was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had and I probably the fastest I have ever bonded with a group of people. I wish nothing for the best for Cam, Laura, Sofia, Tristan, Amy, Tony, Priyanka, Miray, and Ethan. Truly some of my best friends. What is From the Top?

Based in Boston, From the Top is an independent non-profit organization that celebrates the power of music in the hands of extraordinary young people, reaching more than one million people each year. We shine a light on diverse young musicians ages 8 to 18 by sharing their stories and performances, providing scholarships, and engaging them as leaders in national broadcasts, live concerts, and outreach events across the country. These musicians are inspirational role models for all ages, proving the value of hard work in the pursuit of excellence. You can learn more about it at fromthetop.org.

What's the Story?

I was chosen to be a featured soloist on From the Top. I will be appearing on the National Public Radio program, and I will be participating in some community engagement activities over a three day time period (November 16-18). The radio feature will include an interview with Molly Yeh, as well as a performance with pianist, Peter Dugan. You can read more about them below. Who is the Host?

Molly Yeh appeared as a percussionist on From the Top at age 18 in 2007. Since then, she plays with food more than mallets, and has established herself as one of the top food bloggers and authors in America. A Juilliard graduate, Ms. Yeh's Food Network show, Girl Meets Farm, premiered on June 24, and her first book, Molly on the Range, was named one of the best cookbooks for fall 2016 by The New York Times. Who is the Collaborator?

Pianist Peter Dugan appeared on From the Top in 2007 at the age of 18. Over the last 11 years, he's appeared as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician across North America and abroad. Equally at home in classical, jazz, and pop idioms, Peter has performed in duos and trios with artists ranging from Itzhak Perlman and Joshua Bell to Jesse Colin Young and Glenn Close. His debut last year with Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony was described by the Los Angeles Times as "stunning." He is a founding creator and the pianist for Operation Superpower, a superhero opera program for children. You can learn even more about him here.
